Helping build strong communities

The Kin Club of Conception Bay South recently recognized Guildfords Newfoundland and Mary Bursey for their generosity.

Because of you, our Kin club will be able to help others in our community, as our motto states ‘Serving our community's greatest need’. The $1000 donation was made to the Conception Bay South / Paradise Food Bank on Saturday May 6th, 2017. The CBS Food Bank has experienced tremendous growth over the past few months and were very thankful for our donation.”

Mary Bursey, Administrative Assistant for Guildfords Newfoundland has been recognized by the Newfoundland and Labrador Construction Association with the prestigious Community Leader Award at their April 2017 Gala.

The Community Leader Award recognizes an individual who has dedicated their time and efforts to improving their community and to making a difference in the lives of others. Their actions inspire other member firm representatives to do the same, helping us all build a better community.

Mary is an active volunteer with the Conception Bay South KIN Club since 2011. Kin clubs across the country work to better their communities, enhance the well-being of Canadians and improve the environment. The Association boasts a proud history dedicated to fostering life-long friendships while ‘Serving the Community’s Greatest Need.’

Her work with the KIN Club has grown tremendously since she joined. She has been acting Club President for the past two years and participated in the District Speaking Competition. It is a growing organization and she has been instrumental in helping that process. Mary finds time to do this with a heavy workload with Guildfords, volunteering in the summer at her campground to organize and hold the children’s horseshoe tournaments and while also being a mother of two children.

Mary’s dedication to service doesn’t surprise her team at Guildfords. According to one of those who supplied a recommendation letter, “Mary is always the first to offer help, to stay late to meet deadlines and help the workers with whatever they need. She is the heartbeat of our office, we all depend on her and can’t imagine our office without her.”

Mary’s commitment, interest and hard work definitely make a difference in the lives of families who are assisted by the CBS KIN Club and to all those around her. Thank you, Mary for all you do for Guildfords and our community.

As part of the award, $2,000 was donated to Mary's charity of choice, the CBS KIN Club, on her behalf. As well, in appreciation of Mary's community spirit, Guildfords has topped-up the recognition with an additional $1,000 contribution to her charity of choice on her behalf.
